About us

G.A. Schackner Builders Inc is a second-generation family business established in 1976.  The company is headed by Gerald A "Jed" Schackner.  Jed is registered and insured in both Rhode Island (RI # 22109) and Connecticut (CT # 0673666). He has been running the business since 2003.

The company was founded in 1976 by Jed's late father.  Jed learned tremendous skills as his father's apprentice, continuing his education at Chariho Area Career and Technical Center, graduating in 1987. 
 
Jed is familiar with the craftsmanship and uniqueness of this area and has built a solid base of referrals. (See our Testimonials.)  Remodeling is his specialty and he loves working on historic/vintage structures.  Jed is a Master Carpenter and a General Contractor, who offers experience, fair and reasonable rates, technical detail, a neat and clean working area, and pride in his work.  Jed is a proud member of the Rhode Island Builders Association, and was named member of the month in July 2012.
